Tanjung Sepat

“When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes.
But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls!”    ―     Ted Grant
B&W photography always gives people a sense of mystery and sometimes shock, because without color, people look deeper in what that photograph talks. People find no distraction through B&W photography.

We had our short trip at Tanjung Sepat last weekend. And we were thinking to present it in black and white.

This beautiful fishing town is located in Kuala Langat, Selangor, which is also near to Sepang Gold Coast. Tanjung Sepat is well-known in seafood. Here, I swear you don't want to miss any chance to eat crabs, prawns, etc. There was a Lover Bridge; however, collapsed recently. It was used to unload fishermen's catch.

Tips for B&W Photography

#1 - Shoot in RAW
The intention to shoot in RAW allows user to record every single detail of the captured scene.
If user used RAW and switched to B&W mode,
the result will immediately show in the LCD screen of camera.
With RAW, the original colors of photograph were still recorded.
And the post production will surprise you eventually.
Of course, you can still shoot in jpeg;
but shoot in color, you can do the conversion later.

#2 - Know when to shoot
Often people love shooting in bright day;
but, B&W photography allows you to shoot in any weather.
So, in future, when you are complaining about the "bad" weather,
try B&W photography! You will get a different experience.
Perhaps, you in love with B&W.
Because dull day gives greater contrast in B&W.
Also learn to imagine the result of B&W before you actually shoot it.
It takes time for practice;
in the end you can easily pick out when to shoot.

#3 - Composition
Need not to say, to make a great photograph,
composition is the key.
In B&W photography, composition is the soul!
Without colors to lead people looking in the photograph,
the sharpness, texture and tones are those make the photograph stand out.
It is the path to bring connection between the audience and the photographer through the great work.
